This afternoon Governor Newsom’s office announced a Limited Stay at Home Order. The press release states that, “In light of an unprecedented, rapid rise in COVID-19 cases across California, Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced a Limited Stay at Home Order requiring generally that non-essential work, movement and gatherings stop between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am in counties in the Purple Tier.”
The order takes effect at 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 and will remain in effect every night for counties in the Purple Tier until 5:00 am. Dec. 21.
It is similar to the stay-at-home order issued in March but is applied only between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and only in Purple Tier counties that are seeing the highest rates of positive cases and hospitalizations.
The order states that people are not required to stay at home during these hours, as long as they do not interact with anyone else, or they are engaging in critical infrastructure, as defined in the “essential workforce” guidance.
