Donner Summit / Serene Lakes

Donner Summit is a peaceful, serene area that is laced with beautiful alpine lakes. Donner Summit is located on either side of the Sierra Crest. Serene Lakes has an elevation between 6,800 – 7,200 feet and an average snowfall of 400 to 500 inches. This is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and those that love snow. The winters here are not for the timid.

Serene Lakes is surrounded by historic mountains, the Emigrant Trail, and five local ski resorts. Royal Gorge Cross-Country Resort– North America’s largest cross-country area. It’s also close to Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch and Boreal all of which are just a short drive away. Serene Lakes may be used for fishing and non-power boating. The lower lake also permits swimming.
