Hi all,Well, here we are nearing the end of 2020, thank goodness! The board for Truckee Community Christmas has been meeting and determining the best way to help others in our community. The food drive as we have known it will not be happening this year. Having people standing in stores for a couple of hours and gathering people to sort food is not safe. I’m sure most of you would not want to sign up for these volunteer positions. The toy drive is continuing since gifts are not wrapped and the coat drive is continuing too.In regards to food, we will be asking for monetary donations so we can give families gift cards to Save Mart and The Grocery Outlet. In years past we have given families $100 and the seniors and homebound $75. This year we believe there will be more people in need of assistance and we would like to increase the amount of the gift cards. Below is the link to Truckee Community Christmas. The toy drive may need help and there is an email to contact them. There is a link for toy and coat drop offs too.
Toy collection barrels can be found all over town. Donate new, unwrapped toys at area banks, churches, law offices, the fire station by Wild Cherries, at the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center, schools, real estate offices and homeowner association clubhouses. We are all committed to taking care of the needs of our Truckee community as best we can. Please reach out to me with any questions and please donate whatever you are comfortable with. Also feel free to forward this email to others. We are hoping to raise close to $50,000.Thank you!
