Teens and adults are invited to a “Job Interviewing Skills” Success Workshop at 12:10 p.m. on May 3. This workshop with Christopher Old lasts about 50 minutes and takes place in room 126 on the Tahoe-Truckee campus.

U.S. in the Middle East

Examine the history of the United States Middle East foreign policy and why we are still there in this enlightening talk with UNR professor John Anthony Scire, Ph.D., MBA. Since 1994, John Anthony Scire has taught at UNR, Reno. He developed and taught a graduate level energy policy class as well as courses in foreign policy, international conflict, comparative government and politics. Scire has also taught at Sierra College and Truckee Meadows Community College. He was a Psychological Warfare Specialist at the U.S. Army Reserve’s 351st Civil Affairs Command in Mountain View California where he participated in or supported Intelligence, Counterintelligence, and Psychological Warfare operations against Warsaw Pact forces. He worked at the embassy level in Korea and the Army Corps level in Germany. Scire was an active Duty Marine Corps Infantry Officer with combat and non-combat assignments in Northeast and Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and with the NSA from 1968-1980. Scire holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from University of Maryland, an MBA from Golden Gate University and a Ph.D. in Political Science from UNR. RSVP today.
SUMMER 2019 ON CAMPUS
We have two on campus offerings this summer semester (June 24 – July 24):
HIST 17A – History of the U.S. to 1877 with Taylor Tiraterra, M.A. is offered from 8:30 to 11:50 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
ENGL 1A – Introduction to Composition with Christina Nemec, M.A. is offered from 12:30 to 3:50 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Both are three credit courses. The cost per credit is $46, and the cost is discounted to just $1/credit for high school students. High school students must complete an Academic Enrichment form to enroll.
FALL 2019 ENROLLMENT IS OPEN
Highlights for the fall semester include Allied Health 20 which is being offered on the Tahoe-Truckee campus for the first time. The course offers an introduction to career choices in Allied Health. Topics include education and career mapping, job outlooks, occupational and professional requirements, pay ranges, and employer expectations. Students will gain hands-on experience related to various occupations and insight into roles and responsibilities through guest speakers! ALH 20 will be offered from 6:15 to 8:35 p.m. on Thursdays from Sept. 12 through Oct. 31.
